Funny Girl

To get a taste of the rib tickling fun at this year's Comedy Festival, Michelle Bong caught up with on of the performers, Karen Loftus.

Just for the fun of it, I get American comedienne Karen Loftus to come up with a personal ad on how she would snare a millionaire.

She writes: "I am an adventurous, inquisitive, and playful diva. You are a smart and worldly man. With your checkbook and my charm, imagine what we could do! My turn-ons are frequent flyer miles and gifts that say 'For You'!"

The 36-year-old native of Philadelphia, USA, with the Baywatch babe looks, will be dishing more such humour when she performs here from 29 to 31 March. A firm crowd favourite at clubs and colleges back home, she is known for her high energy and hilarious performances that toe the fine line between smart and silly.
Will Karen indulge in stand-up staples like Jewish jokes and politics? She confirms that the world, her travels, American politics today and life in general make for her wealth of material along with her other forte, gender differences.

"I have a twin brother, so I have been carefully studying this phenomenon since pre-birth! I believe I picked up on some male energy and he, some female. I have always been adventurous and independent, and I have a huge fear of commitment. Yet my twin brother is very much the married successful businessman with the white picket fence, two kids and two dogs. How did that happen?" she laughs.
Karen performs at Zouk.
