Loftus to perform at ASU
Actress and comedian Karen Loftus will perform in Wilson Theater
at Arkansas State University on Thursday, Feb. 3, at 8 p.m.
The free performance is sponsored by the Student Activities Board,
the ASU Theater and KASU radio. Admission is free.
Also, Loftus will conduct a workshop for ASU theater students entitled
"Body Comedy." Loftus developed the workshop, which she has presented
at many venues from women's shelters to college classrooms.
The comedian is coming to Jonesboro as a part of a program sponsored
by ASU Theater were she will continue development of her one-woman
show, "I'm Not the Blonde You Think I Am" with professor John O'Connell,
assistant professor of the theater arts.
"Her brand of humor is a crazy mix of smart and silly, with sharp
observations and hilarious life-experience stories of a female comic
in the world of male entertainers," according to O'Connell.
Loftus has performed at major clubs around the country including
Caroline's, Comic Strip and Dangerfield's in New York City and The
Improv, Laugh Factory and the Comedy Store in Los Angeles.
