Comedian Karen Loftus
I'm Not the Blonde You Think I Am

Just recently, Karen Loftus completed work on her solo piece, I'm Not The Blonde You Think I Am. BLONDE was the first show chosen to be performed in the new Tennessee Williams Center where she was awarded a Tennessee Williams Fellowship.

Karen's previous original works included BARBIE DOLLS, a play produced at the Hudson Theatre in Los Angeles. BARBIE is currently being developed into a film as it garnered the interest of many female stars and their production companies.

IT'S A MAN'S MAN'S MAN'S MAN'S WORLD, a two-woman show, was written, performed and produced by Karen Loftus and Joan Ranquet. MAN'S WORLD started in LA, then went to Seattle, Baltimore, DC, New York and Edinburgh, Scotland, where it was a part of the Edinburgh Fringe Festival. It was one of the 7 shows chosen out of the 1100 in the festival by the London Times as The Critic's Choice. Karen and Joan were festival favorites and ended up in two documentaries in Italy and South America. In every city they performed, they organized benefit performances for groups such as WOMEN AND AIDS, ACT UP LA, ACT UP NY, and CAMPAIGN FOR THE FREEDOM OF EXPRESSION. MAN'S WORLD is being remounted in early 1999 in LA.

Karen's produced, written and performed many comedy sketch groups such as TIME TO PANIC and BIG TIME ANGST performing currently at Second City, a part of the Monday night workshop series in LA. There is also SEIZURE SALAD and GAL O RAMA, an all women's comedy group, performing regularly at the Laugh Factory and recently she performed with the REBAR GANG in New York City at Rebar.
