Thanks Again to Comedy Central for 4 Years for Support: 2001, 2002,
2003, 2004
Sponsoring
a Body Comedy Program
Sponsoring
a Body Comedy Program and/or making a contribution
would:
- Allow Body
Comedy to continue to be made available in several facilities
such as shelters, juvenile halls, transitional homes, hospitals
and jails.
- Expose
Body Comedy to a larger audience with more frequent classes and
larger groups as well as expanding to a wider market nationally
and internationally.
- Make
it possible to offer more "Healing Through Humor" Workshops, such
as "One Voice" a solo writing workshop and "Focus Five", a five-week
motivational workshop.
What you get in Return for Your Contribution
- A tax
deduction with Theater of Hope for Abused Women, THAW
Fed Id # 95-4843620
- Branding
of your name and or company as your name will go on any and
all promotional materials for Body Comedy. I also teach
Body Comedy to universities and to private groups, again
your name and or co will go on all of those fliers to allow for
more branding throughout the year.
- Unlimited
publicity potential. While being interviewed as a comedian,
I am always being asked about Body Comedy, as many people
are interested in the program. Again, in my discussion of the
class, I will always mention my sponsor. In recent months I have
been interviewed on CNBC's "Power Lunch," "Asian
Working Woman," a half hour special program on CNBC,
NPR, Zoo 98, Ms. Magazine, Elle Magazine
and several TV shows, radio shows, newspapers and magazines in
the states and overseas.
- A donor
to an excellent program that benefits many women and children
that really need it and really have amazing life changes as a
result of it.
- A Body Comedy
bulletin will be sent to you via email regarding all the class
and workshop updates, so you will see how and where your money
is beng spent and how effective and far it all went.
- Many Thanks
from me!!!
There
is an ongoing need for supplies:
- New CD's
are always needed as music requests are always being made in each
and every class. I always honor them, as the musical element is
a huge part of the class.
- Yoga mats
are needed. In some facilities we use sheets out on the lawn for
the yoga portion of the class, which is fine, but having mats
would be so much better and more comfortable for them.
Aside from
workshop costs, other expenses:
- My classes
have gotten so large. In the LA County Jail, I can have as many
as 78 in a class. I would like to bring an assistant or two along
with me to help out with such a large group, continuing hands
on touch and attention as I will not turn any willing participants
away.
- Again the
music adds so much joy to the class. In the future I really want
to bring in a DJ with me. I know they will love that! I have two
local DJ's interested, provided I have the funds to cover their
fees.
- Training
costs. There are several workshops and relative training that
is available. If brought back in to the Body Comedy class, it
is a benefit to all. Several workshops are currently of interest,
but prohibitive at this point, due to costs.
Wish
List:
I have been fortunate to reach thousands of at risk women and
children, survivors of domestic violence, physical and sexual
abuse, and drug and alcohol abuse through my Body Comedy Workshops
all over the United States. I am thrilled to now be reaching
men, domestic violence offenders in the LA County Jail. I have
been fortunate to seen first hand how effective and healing
this workshop can be and has been for all the participants I
have been able to reach here in the US.
My dream is to take this workshop overseas. I have been working
for the past three years as an international comedian. I have
been able to take my comedy to twelve different countries and
to countless cities around the world.
Like my comedy, I now want to take Body Comedy out to the global
marketplace. My dream is to conduct workshops worldwide with
the participants within a facility and or within a community.
In addition, I want to conduct training workshops for the facilitators,
so the Body Comedy can continue in my absence.
Again, this could be costly, covering my costs to get there
and to be there.
So, please Spread Your Wealth enabling me to Spread the Health,
bringing joy to places where there is very little.
Any and all contributions are welcome and so appreciated. No
donation is too small.

Body Comedy is a class designed to get you out of your
head and into your body
. It's where the funny gets physical. International
comedian Karen Loftus has seen first hand how humor heals. Karen
has pulled on her background in clown, improv, dance and yoga to
create this unique and transformational class. She has taught several
women and children at various shelters and centers for survivors
of domestic violence, sexual abuse, at risk youths and teen prostitutes,
here in LA and around the country while touring as a comedian. The
goal is to bring the participants back to a state of "Le Jeu",
to rekindle the childlike joy that has been dimmed from years of
abuse and neglect. This class enables the participants to heal themselves
and others through humor.
Please Spread your Wealth, allowing me to Spread the Health!!!
On V Day, February 10, 2001, 70 fabulous women like Jane Fonda,
Oprah, Whoopi, Queen Latifah, Calista Flockhart, Gloria Steinem
and several others gathered on stage in Madison Square Garden to
a packed house to fight against the violence against women and girls
as this problem is pervasive worldwide.
Please gather with me in LA, around the country and around the world
as I fight against the violence and bring humor to places where
there is very little.
Please Spread your Wealth, Allowing me to Spread the Health!!!
